Socializing
Socializing with your chinchilla is special. As chinchillas' are very social little creatures.
Chinchillas' will get used to you, and begin to trust you after a week (or more) of socializing, every day for awhile.
Once you've gained your chin's trust, it will always want to socialize with you. It will enjoy you holding it a bit more, become less startled,
and you and your chinchilla will be happy friends.
If you're planning on getting another chinchilla for your occupied friend, make sure you do this with utmost care.
Do not mix a female and male chinchilla together as that will hurt your two chinchillas. You might wake up the next morning, and find
your chinchilla giving birth to babies - that you don't want. To find more about this see 'mating'.
Female and female chinchillas' are great pairs, even though at some times they can have little attitude problems, and will spray pee when
agitated. But females can be territorial and not want the other chinchilla say, eat food from the food bowl. Or sleep in a certain area, etcetera.
Males and males, can be a great pair but one day, one male may wake up and just not like the other male in the cage. This can lead to fighting, painful injuries, and in some cases fighting to the death.
Please be careful when selecting chinchillas, and I would best prefer female and female, unless you have an alternate cage for a male, when one
male loathes the other one.
